CHALLENGE
Constructing a fiber-optic network in the densely urbanized area of Munich presented numerous challenges. Strict municipal requirements for road traffic safety, limited trench lengths, and high operational costs were just a few of the obstacles.Additionally, the investor required the use of Deutsche Telekom's new construction and resident communication platform the so-called Gigabit Geschäftssystem. Logistics related to asphalt transport also posed significant coordination demands.
SOLUTION
To address these challenges, we established a fully operational construction site office, enabling direct contact and scheduling with residents affected by the works. Co-developing the work schedule and maintaining thorough as-built documentation were essential elements of the project. We carried out precise engineering works, including trenching, removal and restoration of the existing surface, and duct installation. The project also involved complex cabling operations blowing fiber into previously laid conduits and performing cable splicing.

Summary

The fiber-optic network construction project in Munich posed numerous challenges. However, through careful planning and the use of innovative solutions, we successfully met all requirements. The results of our efforts contributed significantly to the improvement of the city’s telecommunications infrastructure and expanded broadband internet access for its residents.
