Challenge
The project required a type-conformity certificate from an accredited body and a type-approval certificate from the Polish Railway Transport Office for the new dispatcher terminals. It also involved surveying, reconfiguring and integrating PKP PLK’s existing SDH-based transmission network with newly built MPLS infrastructure. All activities had to be coordinated simultaneously at 115 railway facilities operated by nine Regional Track Units throughout the country.
Solution
An interdisciplinary project team defined the optimal device configurations and ensured full compliance with legal and normative requirements. A dedicated laboratory was established at company headquarters to test the interoperability of SDH and MPLS systems and to conduct certification trials in cooperation with the Military Institute of Armament Technology. Installation and integration tasks were scheduled in stages, maintaining uninterrupted service on the PKP PLK transmission network during implementation.

Summary

The project demonstrates how rigorous certification processes can be successfully combined with complex technical integration, delivering to PKP PLK a modern, secure and scalable communication system that meets the highest reliability requirements for critical infrastructure.
