CHALLENGE
The project involved modernizing four 15 kV RSM stations located on Łabiszyńska, Kordecka, Powiśle and Domaniewska streets in Warsaw, belonging to Stoen Operator Sp. z o.o. The modernization aimed to increase the effectiveness of fault reduction in emergency situations, improve the security of power supply by introducing remote configuration of safety devices. Communication stations and cooperation with all stakeholders were also planned to ensure professionalism, timeliness and high quality of implementation, responding simultaneously to non-standard requirements and meeting clients' growing demands.
SOLUTION
The modernization involved rebuilding the stations with replacement of all 15 kV distribution fields, while maintaining power supply continuity. The project included replacement of switchgear cabinets, AC and DC auxiliary power supply, comprehensive replacement of collector busbars and effective communication with the investor. The challenge posed high implementation costs as well as ensuring safety and organization of work. The scope of work included comprehensive modernization of linear fields, connecting lines, busbar fields, supply fields and own needs fields, totaling 158 fully modernized 15 kV fields.

Remote Supervision of Equipment

Remote configuration of safety devices enables better monitoring and faster response to system changes. Installation of telemechanics switchgear and safety device concentrators ensures effective supervision of electrical equipment.

Increased Power Supply Stability

Modernization of 15 kV distribution fields resulted in reduced system failure rates, replacement of transformers and switchgear contributed to improved station operation stability and also met requirements for extending critical infrastructure power supply maintenance time.

Shortened Reaction Time to Failures

Effective response to potential failures thanks to remote configuration of safety device parameters enables faster identification and elimination of faults.

SUMMARY

The modernization project of four RSM 15kV stations provided a response to the needs of increased efficiency, safety and reliability of emergency response in the power supply system. Project implementation, despite challenges related to costs and work organization, brought significant benefits in the form of remote supervision and control over equipment, failure reduction and improved incident response. Thanks to cooperation with the investor and engagement of all parties, the project ended successfully, introducing significant improvements in electrical infrastructure.
